when it comes to choosing a party dress, i can be somewhat complicated. i don't mean to be a prude but dressing all scantily clad is just not my thing hence i usually opt to look for something cute and simple with minor details yet still has an edge to it without looking way too sexy. how confusing, right :) of course, i have nothing against those micro mini sexy bodycon dresses...so if your into that whole look then more power to you! i guess it's the mere fact that i need to be realistic because those kind of dresses simply doesn't cater to my body type. let's face it, if it's not flattering and makes you uncomfortable then why force it?
one major thing though that i always keep in mind is deciding what i want to showcase, if it's the legs then i try to avoid dresses that expose the top half too much and the same way around, if i want to show a bit of skin up top then i try to keep the bottom half covered :) personally, i think by not revealing too much adds a bit of mystery. now who doesn't love some mystery in their life, right?
hence the question what sort of party dresses do you look for?

Gromet and sequin detailing is so much interesting and unique than the skin baring party outfits that all of the other girls out there! Girls should NOT be wearing a dress that is 4x smaller than their normal size.

this is a perfect party dress, the beading and swing look amazing! the photos are so cool too! i agree with your view on party dresses... sometime sexiness is in the standout details, hints at your shape, and subtle peeks of one or two areas of skin. love your style, new follower <3shelby

I feel you girlfriend. I'm picky too when it comes to wearing dresses, but my main concern is aiming for comfort. of course, comfort shouldn't be bland but neither uncomfortable. I follow about the same rules you do. I'm short so I don't have much options anyway! ugh.

I find it really hard to find party dresses too! I'm not one for super-short extra-tight dresses. I just look for dresses that are comfy... and usually sparkly ;)

These pictures are lovely. Who took them?
I wear a lot of colour in the day time so at night I usually opt for a little black dress that has detailing that stands out or is cut in a beautiful way.
Thanks for the blog comment. Keep in touch xx

I love this dress! Party dresses are a problem for me too! I just fall in love with all of them! I don't really have a 'type', i'm just as happy in a tight bodycon dress to a cute chiffon flowy number! Love your style :D.

I totally agree with you. I have so much trouble with party outfits! I want to look good, not cheap. x) and yeah bodycon dresses can look good, but they are not comfy and you can't sit without worrying if your tummy is showing x)
love your outfit!

that's exactly how it should be--either show some leg or show some skin up top, but not both. i like bodycon dresses, but loose fitting dresses are more fun because they are more comfy and still look really great with heels.

i actually love the dress you are wearing here--and these photos are spectacular! :)

This dress is fabulous! It's so beautiful!!!! When it comes to party dresses I like to experiment! I own several Little Black Dresses, but I love backless models, I love bold reds, sequins...

The party dress that I´m going to wear depends on the occasion. Yes, it´s nice to show some skin once in a while but not to the point of baring them all.

Cute ring! ;)

When it comes to a party dress I like something with a little sparkle or something else to take it up a few notches and make it feel a little special.
